Auckland Museum is an influential, much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its extensive collections, and the permanent, contract and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.

Auckland Museum currently has an exciting career opportunity for a Collection Manager to join our Natural Sciences team at a dynamic time of redevelopment and renewal. As one of a team of dedicated Collection Managers, the role is responsible for the maintenance of the museum’s Natural Sciences collections by providing expert physical care, processing and documentation of collection items, and by providing access to collections through loans, for visitors and responding to enquiries in their area of expertise, and contributing to exhibitions and public programs.

Our Natural Sciences Collection Managers work across all Natural Sciences Collections. The current collections team are principally focused on the marine (including geology and palaeontology) and botany collections; therefore we are seeking someone with a zoology background to have responsibility for the management of our Entomology and Land Vertebrates collections.

You must be eligible to work in NZ to apply for this position.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to be part of a fabulous New Zealand organisation committed to telling our national and Auckland stories and reflecting our unique place in the South Pacific.
