Collection Manager, Online Cenotaph and He Pou Maumahara

Auckland Museum is a much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its extensive collections and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.

An opportunity exists in the Information, Library and Enquiry Services team for a qualified and experienced information management professional to lead the Po Maumahara team on a fixed term basis until late April 2019.

This role is responsible for the expert stewardship and content development of the Museum’s Online Cenotaph database product, for providing access to Online Cenotaph and the Museum’s war related collections through He Pou Maumahara Memorial Research Centre and for oversight of the He Pou Maumahara team of Collection Technicians and responses to enquiries and public programmes related to both Online Cenotaph and research.

To be successful in this fixed term role, you will offer;

  • Proven ability to liaise and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Prior experience leading, training and supervising staff and the demonstrated ability to engender enthusiasm and commitment from team members
  • Knowledge and experience of manipulating data and database management and development, preferably Vernon CMS, and in the use of computerised systems for managing online collections
  • Knowledge of New Zealand war history is highly desirable
  • Experience managing volunteers work in a museum collection content environment is beneficial
