Auckland Museum is an influential, much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its extensive collections and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.

Auckland Museum currently has a fixed term (to 5 February 2017) opportunity for a highly motivated Collection Manager, Taonga Māori to join the Museum at an exciting time of redevelopment and renewal.

The position is located in the Human History team and is part of the wider Collection and Research directorate. As one of a team of dedicated Collection Managers, the role is responsible for the expert processing and documentation of recently acquired Human History collection items, and for providing access to collections through hosting visitors to the collection, responding to enquiries, and contributing to loans, exhibitions and public programmes. This role has a particular focus on the Museum’s Taonga Māori collections.

This role, along with the contribution of the broader Collections and Research directorate is at the heart of many of the Museum’s aspirations.  The collections, and knowledge about them, are often the essential raw material for exhibitions, programmes and events for family, formal education and tourist audiences.
