Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a motivated and experienced Collection Manager to facilitate and implement the collection access service relating to the Indigenous Collections, for external and internal stakeholders. The access service is guided by relevant legislation, Museum policy and Indigenous cultural protocols.

ABOUT THE POSITION
This position serves an important facilitation and communication function within the Humanities team, in the delivery of access services for the Indigenous Collection, working with relevant curatorial and collection management staff, as well as with the Media Production and Copyright Department and a wide range of external stakeholders.
Notable skills and experience:
- Experience in the implementation of collection management systems and procedures, including the use of computer applications for collection information management.
- Knowledge of the legal and cultural issues concerning the public accessibility of Indigenous objects, images and manuscripts held in museum collections, especially with regard to relevant copyright and privacy legislation and the implementation of cultural protocols.
- Experience in scheduling and co-ordinating complex workloads, and, good communication skills.
- The successful applicant will have experience in managing Indigenous Collections of material culture, photographs or manuscripts.
