Auckland War Memorial Museum: Connecting through sharing stories of people, lands and seas

Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its world-class collections, developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibition, events, educational programmes and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories. We are Auckland’s home of commemoration as well as the country’s oldest research institution and a major tourist destination.

The Collection Manager, Relocations and Storage is one of a small team responsible for the oversight and management of the offsite collections’ facility Manu Tāiko, promoting and delivering on expert physical care, storage, and handling of collections. This role sets best practice standards for packing and storage across the organisation, and continually upgrades our collection storage through Storage Optimisation projects.

This role, working closely with a small team of Relocation & Storage focussed Collection Managers bridges between our collections onsite at the Museum and our collections at our offsite collections’ facility, providing expert care in the transport between sites. This is a full-time, permanent position based mostly at our South Auckland based facility, with occasional days working onsite at the Museum in Parnell.
