Museum Victoria is seeking an experienced Collection Storage & Logistics Officer to assist in delivering daily warehousing operations and services within Museum Victoria’s non-collection storage facility at Simcock Avenue and within its Collection stores at Moreland, Melbourne Museum and Scienceworks. The position will also assist in the delivery of major, complex collection management projects for the state collection.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The position is accountable for assisting in the provision of non-collection and collection storage operations and services within Museum Victoria’s Collection Storage and Logistics Team at Simcock Avenue and other sites as required.

Notable skills and experiences:

  1. Knowledge and experience of working within a warehouse and preferably a Museum storage environment assisting with implementation and provision of warehousing and logistical services. Museum collection and/or art handling knowledge or experience preferred. Possession of or demonstrable willingness and aptitude to obtain a forklift licence is highly desirable as is experience in the use of hand tools (the position will assist to create specialised pallets and stillages for collection storage).
  2. Knowledge of and experience in following and applying compliance, health and safety, risk management, collection preservation, collection emergency, asset management and security and client access procedures and guidelines within a warehouse, preferably Museum storage environment.
  3. Capacity to work independently and as part of a Team.
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with, report to and advise colleagues on matters of mutual interest.

OTHER INFORMATION
This is a casual position. The rate on offer is $29.08 per hour + 9.5% superannuation.
