Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking 2 highly enthusiastic people to join its Collection Storage and Logistics team.

Museum Victoria cares for the State scientific and cultural collections, providing visitor access, activities and events at four distinct venues: Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, Scienceworks, IMAX Cinema and world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building. ABOUT THE POSITION:
These positions will assist in the implementation of The Museum’s Collection Storage Upgrade Project. This project will involve a major relocation of Collection material to a newly established collection store as well as the construction of collection storage crates, pallets, stillages and storage systems.
Notable skill sets required for this position include:
- Heritage object handling skills
- A forklift licence and proficiency in the use of hand and power tools are both essential
- A Light or Medium Rigid Truck Licence and Scissor lift Licence are both highly desirable
The successful applicant will have:
- Knowledge of and experience in assisting with implementation and coordination of the macro and intermediate levels of storing and delivering the logistical management of major, complex cultural and scientific collections
- Knowledge of and experience in applying compliance, health and safety, risk management, collection preservation, collection emergency, asset management, security and client access requirements for internal collection stores, storage systems and equipment, and collections with customised requirements
- Experience in implementing collection storage projects, including working in project teams
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with, report to and advise colleagues on matters of mutual interest
