The Collection Information and Access department is seeking a full-time and fixed-term Collection Technician, Documentary Heritage to be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary project team at Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum. You will be responsible for creating high-quality object records, rehousing and at times digitising items from our unpublished Manuscripts and Pictorial collections. This role is crucial to the achievement of the project, which will highlight the breadth and depth of our collections and form the basis of future onsite, offsite and online access.

To be successful in this full-time role, you will offer:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a heritage collection documentation, inventory or cataloguing role
  • Proven experience of best practice in handling archive or photographic collections is essential
  • A relevant Tertiary qualification and/or Museum Studies qualification
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivation, effective organisation skills and an ability to cope well under pressure
  • A natural and strong personal interest in the heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand
