Auckland Museum has launched Future Museum, a high-level strategic and capital investment plan that is guiding a process of transformational change. This change spans all the dimensions that the museum works in – onsite, offsite and online – and will ensure the museum can achieve its vision and mission over the next 20 years.
The Collection Cataloguing Project is focused on the care of the collection through improving documentation of and knowledge about the objects we hold. Auckland Museum is recruiting now for a highly motivated and enthusiastic archaeology specialist to join us as a Collection Technician, Human History, on a fixed term and full time basis until December 2019.The successful candidate will be part of the core team readying our collection for the future, working alongside colleagues from Natural Sciences and Documentary Heritage.
To be successful in this role, you will have as a minimum:
- Relevant museum experience including object handling, cataloguing and packing
- Subject knowledge relevant to the Museum’s Archaeology collections
- Proven effective interpersonal and time management skills, as well as a strong and positive work ethic
- A relevant tertiary degree
- Knowledge of Tikanga M?ori, especially relating to collections
As detailed above, this role is fixed term in nature, running until December 2019.
