Auckland War Memorial Museum: Connecting through sharing stories of people, lands and seas

We are seeking a versatile and motivated technician on a permanent full-time basis, to support the collection management team to prepare, house and catalogue natural sciences specimens.

To be successful in this role, you will offer:

  • Tertiary qualification in a field relevant to the Natural Sciences collections of the museum
  • Extensive experience in preparation of museum natural science specimens, including one or more of: vertebrate autopsy and specimen preparation, bone preparations, fluid fixation and preservation, plant preparations, insect preparations
  • Collections database experience, preferably in Vernon CMS
  • Experience in one or more of freeze-drying, microscopy or digital imaging
  • Strong attention to detail and proven accuracy
  • Demonstrated efficiency in MS Office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective time management skills
