Auckland Museum is a much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its extensive collections and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.

An exciting opportunity exists for two highly motivated Collection Technicians to join the Museum on a 2 year fixed-term basis at an exciting time of redevelopment and renewal.

The role of Collection Technician, Te Awe project contributes to the upgrade of information about the Taonga Maori collection through improving the richness of database records including the conversion of paper-based records into an electronic database working with subject experts as appropriate. The resulting significantly enriched electronic catalogue of the Taonga Maori collection will support a wide range of future programmes which are the basis of the Museum’s revised onsite, offsite and online programmes anticipated by Future Museum.

The Collection Technician, Te Awe project position is a unique opportunity for people with a collection management background to make a meaningful difference to the understanding of the indigenous culture of New Zealand.
