The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is northern Australia’s premier cultural institution. It offers a dynamic and diverse arts, science and cultural program to over 300,000 visitors each year across six sites.

Primary Objective
Provide leadership and guide the development and planning for communications and marketing across print and digital platforms. Provide strategic advice on internal and external communication strategies and guide and implement integrated marketing plans. Enhance MAGNT’s digital experiences and monitor procurement, compliance and budgetary activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of MAGNT- owned web sites, social media and applications including strategy, implementation, maintenance and enhancements, across all locations
- Provide high level written internal and external communications including project and contractor briefs, media releases, program and marketing copy, funding submissions, acquittals and evaluation reports
- Develop and implement media, communications and marketing strategies for the promotion of engagement and exhibition activities relevant to the collections and venues of MAGNT
- Coordinate all MAGNT marketing and promotional materials including advertising, publications, promotional materials, newsletters, direct mail, annual report, filming and photography permissions and manage MAGNT branding
- Collate and analyse relevant statistics and provide recommendations to improve the delivery of communications and marketing programs
- Proactively improve the MAGNT external profile and develop and maintain professional networks and partnerships with external stakeholders including project partners, media, sponsors, community groups and researchers
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- A tertiary degree in communications, journalism, digital media or marketing and experience working within a museum or similar environment
- Experience in high level leadership and management in the planning and delivery of communication and marketing strategies in print and digital format that raise awareness and drive engagement amongst diverse audiences
- Skilled relationship builder with extensive experience managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach
- High level oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills including sound budgetary management and evaluation experience
- Demonstrated experience in managing digital platforms, communications and media including the delivery of complex and multi-faceted projects
- Highly developed creative, analytical, planning and work organisation skills including the ability to prioritise competing timelines, meet strict deadlines and analyse performance against budget and key performance indicators
- An ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and ensuring work health and safety system compliance
