The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is the Northern Territory’s premier cultural institution. It offers a dynamic and diverse arts, science and cultural program to more than 300,000 visitors each year.

MAGNT has seven venues: Bullocky Point, the Defence of Darwin Experience, Fannie Bay Gaol, Lyons Cottage, the Museum of Central Australia (incorporating the Strehlow Research Centre), Megafauna Central and the Alcoota fossil site.

Primary Objective:
Under the direction of the Development & Communications Manager, guide and administer the development and planning for communications and marketing across print and digital platforms. The position also includes the delivery of media and marketing activities, implementing communication strategies to ensure awareness of and access to program information, as well as monitoring and evaluating outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and monitor all aspects of MAGNT owned website, social media, and applications including strategy, implementation, maintenance and enhancements.
  2. Maintain and monitor the organisation’s image, corporate and project brandings for consistency and correct logo use both internally and externally.
  3. In consultation with the Development & Communications Manager and Visitor Experience Coordinator, draft high level written internal and external communications including project briefs, media releases, program and marketing copy, eNews, and funding submissions.
  4. Develop and implement media, communications and marketing strategies for the promotion of engagement and exhibition activities relevant to the collections and venues of MAGNT.
  5. Deliver MAGNT marketing and promotional materials including advertising, publications, promotional materials, annual report, filming and photography permissions, direct mail and eNews via Campaign Monitor.
  6. Collate statistics for MAGNT’s activities and acquittals.
  7. Proactively improve the MAGNT external profile and develop and maintain professional networks and partnerships with external stakeholders including project partners, media, sponsors, community groups and researchers.
  8. Distribute media releases via Meltwater, coordinate and facilitate media interviews, briefings and manage media inquiries.
  9. Perform any other duties as delegated and negotiated with the Development & Communications Manager.
