About the Business – South Australia Museum (SAM)
The South Australian Museum (SAM) is a leading research institution, one of the most visited museums in Australia, and holds collections of national and international significance. The purpose of the Museum is to inspire in all people a wonder and curiosity about life on Earth.

Role Details
As part of a small committed team, the role will support communications projects and campaigns that promote the Museum, its research and collections, public programs, membership and enterprise offerings. With a focus on social media coordination the role is responsible for creating engaging content, identifying media angles and working with staff from across the Museum to bring the wonder and curiosity of the Museum to life. You will have a natural talent for writing and storytelling with proven knowledge and experience in social media and an understanding of the South Australian media landscape with appropriate tertiary qualifications in communications or a similar field. You will embrace the opportunity to provide community management across SAM’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok) and look at new and fun ways to engage and connect with people of all ages. Proactive and resourceful, you possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a keen interest in natural history and the arts and demonstrate a willingness to think outside the box and take on a challenge. You enjoy working collaboratively but can also work autonomously and are ambitious to contribute to the success of the Museum through various communications initiatives. You are known to respectfully engage and communicate with all people with confidence and professionalism. Using the nearly 5million objects in the Museum’s collection you will seek out stories, build relationships and find new and inspiring ways to share these stories with the world.
