The Communication Coordinator will provide support to the Communication and Marketing team across its fundraising, marketing, membership, media relations and stakeholder relations programs. The role will include occasional work after hours and on weekends.

The key duties of the position include:

Under the direction of the Marketing and Partnerships Manager (line manager) and guidance of Media Relations Manager, using established processes, tools and templates:

  • Provide administration support to CAM team including processing membership applications, drafting run sheets and administration briefs, creating purchase orders, processing invoices, maintaining professional records management system, minute taking, fielding and directing calls and emails to most appropriate contacts in the team, general event delivery support (including RSVP management), and data entry into CRM system.
  • Maintain CAM team intranet presence including regular updates on our services and how the staff across the Memorial can access them. Regularly update and develop templates, procedures and other documentation which will contribute to a cycle of continuous improvement in the team.
  • Escort media during assigned filming and onsite visits, ensuring various teams across the Memorial are notified in advance and that the visits are compliant with all Memorial COVID-safe protocols.
  • Monitor and disseminate media enquiries that come to the Memorial via dedicated email accounts and phone line (updating media call log and alerting appropriate staff to enquiry, deadline and nature of request), maintaining professional approach at all times.
  • Distribute approved written responses (and other content such as still and video imagery) through appropriate channels and upload content including media releases and on-record statements to the Memorial website.
  • Generate media coverage reports (daily, monthly, quarterly and by specified program) when required – including all mentions of the Memorial and articles that should be noted in relation to museum sector, defence, tourism and topical issues. Reports will include analysis of ‘sentiment’, track key messages, and include measures such as audience reach.
  • Other duties as required to support Communication and Marketing team involvement in large Memorial events such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.

Desirable Criteria:
Qualification in marketing, journalism or media studies or experience working in a media relations, marketing or fundraising team.
