The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
We are seeking new casual team members to join our team of Retail Confectioners. The Confectioner is responsible for assisting with the production and packaging of confectionery and food/drink products within the Confectionery factory whilst providing a high standard of interpretation and customer service in a pleasant and enthusiastic manner. Other tasks will also include providing customer service and handling visitor enquiries.
The successful applicant should have:
- An understanding and awareness of general food handling/safety requirements when handling and/or making and packing food products
- Good communication and presentation skills with the confidence to demonstrate confectionery-making to groups of up to 100 people
- Ability and willingness to meet deadlines whilst working in a busy environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Ability to work across flexible rosters including weekends, public holidays and school holidays
