The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is Tasmania’s leading natural, cultural and heritage organisation. We’re seeking a Conservation Technician who will work primarily with the Paintings and Objects Conservators to assist with preventive conservation and the preparation of collection items for display, loan and storage. The key tasks include framing/reframing artworks, the construction of specialist supports for fragile and valuable collection items and other tasks related to the preservation of the State collections. The Conservation Technician will be required to work across TMAG’s Moonah, Rosny and City sites and is expected to work under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Conservator (Paintings). They are to take responsibility for the maintenance of their work program to meet deadlines for exhibitions, loans and other projects within the context of established best museum practice guidelines.
