Tamaki Paenga Hira, Auckland War Memorial Museum has a vibrant brand that is well regarded within Auckland and well respected across NZ and internationally.

The Content Manager is a new role that will be proactive in identifying opportunities to share the many stories of the Museum’s collections and research. A key role in the Brand and Customer Engagement team, you’ll work across the organisation to identify great content, and then share those stories across all channels. An experienced publicist or communications professional, you’ll have a nose for news and well established media networks. You’ll be a story teller with the ability to convey messages which connect the museum to its many audiences. You’ll lead the Museum’s “newsroom”, own the integrated omni-channel content strategy, provide editorship of museum wide content to the website, deliver proactive media relations, and establish media content partnerships to increase the reach of museum stories.

To be successful in this position, you will offer

  • 7-10 years publicity/proactive media relations experience with a demonstrable hunger for a great story and an extensive network of media colleagues and contacts.
  • Hands-on experience associated with enterprise content management, including:
  • Experience in editorial planning, establishing and managing an editorial schedule , writing for the web
  • Experience in Analytics, such as Google Analytics
  • Exceptional writing skills, delivering consistent high quality
  • Outstanding collaborator, innovator and communicator
  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to juggle competing demands and work within tight timelines
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • An appropriate qualification in journalism, communications, public relations or in a relevant field.
