Are you interested in community capacity building, then this may be the opportunity for you?  Come and join the team at the WA Museum Boola Bardip and work with our volunteers and help facilitate meaningful participation in the Museum programs and operations.

The Western Australian Museum is a vibrant centre of inspiration, learning and enjoyment for everyone. It preserves, documents and shares collections relating to the State’s natural and cultural heritage. It collaborates with people across Western Australia to share the stories and voices of diverse communities. It works alongside national and international organisations, contributing to global research, promoting life-long learning, and developing and hosting world-class exhibitions.

The WA Museum is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an equitable and diverse working environment and providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and young people. The Museum values the importance of a work environment that is representative of the wider community and which supports a variety of perspectives.

We currently have available one (1) full-time Volunteer Coordinator position, although the Museum may also consider part-time proposals.  The role is available for immediate filling. The position will be required to work a 6-week roster that will include weekend shifts that will be subject to the applicable penalty rates.

A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants for this position may be considered for ‘similar’ vacancies within the Culture and Arts Portfolio and/or the wider public sector which arise within a reasonable period of time. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered – permanent and fixed term, part time and full time.
