CAMD, alongside a number of its member institutions, made submissions last November to the Australian Law Reform Commission’s (ALRC) Issue Paper on Copyright and the Digital Economy – see our response here. The paper dealt in particular with the operation of copyright exceptions under current legislation.
From February the ALRC is undergoing a fresh round of consultations which will include reference groups of content owners, collecting societies, business interest groups, creators, the GLAM sector and others.
The consultations will feed into a Discussion Paper, planned for the end of May/early June 2013. A second round of submissions will be sought at that time.
A final ALRC report is due to the Attorney-General by 30 November 2013.
