About the agency

Sydney Living Museums cares for 11 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

About the role
This role identifies, secures, stewards and retains new and existing corporate partnerships to meet Sydney Living Museums’ organisational revenue targets and enable the agency to meet its strategic objectives and mission.

Essential requirements the role holder needs:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or significant relevant experience in corporate philanthropy
  • Five years plus experience and success in procuring, managing and leveraging financial and strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, presentation and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse internal and external constituencies in a wide variety of settings.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and confidence in preparing and delivering compelling presentations, pitches, proposals to potential partners.
  • Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to analyse and prepare budgets and forecasts.
  • Time management, analytic and problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing timelines.
  • Highly developed skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), databases and CRM systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Passion to make a positive impact in the community and a willingness to work within Sydney Living Museum’s values and behaviours to advance its mission.

Targeted questions:

  1. Please describe an example of when you led or supported a complex corporate partnership negotiation which involved dealing with multiple stakeholders to successfully secure a financial partnership for your organisation. Detail what actions you took and what results you obtained.
  2. Please provide an example of how you identified suitable corporate partners and how you got access to the decision makers in the identified partners. What were the greatest challenges you faced in achieving this and how did you overcome the challenges.
