The NSW Government has announced the development of a NSW Museum Strategy, to be delivered by Create NSW, which is aimed at ensuring the NSW museums and heritage sector is able to continue thriving across the state while preparing for future challenges and opportunities.

The Strategy will aim to address the needs, innovations and possibilities of the State Cultural Institutions, the small-to-medium museum sector and community volunteer-run museums. The Strategy will include heritage museums, Aboriginal Keeping Places and Cultural Centres as well as other organisations engaged in collecting and conserving heritage objects and artefacts.

Through a collaborative, evidence-based and outcomes approach, Create NSW will work with the NSW Cultural Institutions, cultural-heritage and museum sector and sector patrons to develop a strong future for our cultural heritage.

The NSW Museum Strategy – Development and Approach Paper, outlining Create NSW’s approach to the three stages of the Strategy, is available below.
