Dr Patrick Greene, CEO, Museum Victoria

Originally the Micheletti Award was established by the Micheletti Foundation and Kenneth Hudson in 1996, for the recognition of excellence in the specific sector of European science and industry museums. Applications by scientific, technical and industrial museums, science centre and 20th century history museums, both long-established and recently opened, are welcome.

The Award Ceremony will take place on 9 May and is part of the three day conference “Creative Museums for Smart Citizens” organised and hosted by the European Museum Academy (EMA), the Luigi Micheletti Foundation (Fondazione Biblioteca Archivio Luigi Micheletti) and Musil (Museo dell’industria e del lavoro).

As this is the 20th anniversary of the Micheletti Award, the Annual Meeting at which the winner of the Award will be announced, together with the DASA Award Winner, will take place in Brescia, Italy, the home city of the Micheletti Foundation, on Friday and Saturday, 8 and 9 May 2015.

The programme includes a presentation session for candidates, two important lectures by Dr Patrick Greene, CEO of Museum Victoria in Melbourne and Jorge Wagensberg University of Barcelona Professor and creator of CosmoCaixa in Barcelona and other exciting events.

The conference will include topics such as museums and digital creativity, and museums of food and agriculture, thematically complementing the EXPO 2015, which will begin 1 May in Milan, 100 km from Brescia.

There is a registration fee of 150 Euros for the conference, to cover catering and other local costs. Early registration before 1 March: 110 Euros.
