Culture Power Players: 2026

Culture Power Players: 2026, The Australian, 4 November 2026

To mark The Australian Culture’s first anniversary, they have compiled a list of power players shaping the future, and the face, of our creative industries.

The list features CAMD members:

Adam Worrall, Director, Museum and Art Gallery of the NT

The museum leader with a long record of championing Indigenous art has, over the past four years as head of MAGNT, promoted First Nations and Australian artists through international partnerships and travelling exhibitions to remote, regional and metropolitan venues, while overseeing the expansion of the museum’s gallery spaces.

Kim McKay, Director and CEO, Australian Museum (Chair, Council of Australasian Museum Directors)

As the Australian Museum prepares to mark its 200th anniversary next year, Kim McKay is overseeing the nation’s oldest museum through one of its most ambitious periods. Since taking on the role of CEO in 2014, she has managed a major transformation, including the $57.5m Project Discover building redevelopment and record-breaking visitation. Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs (2024) became the institution’s most visited exhibition, attracting more than 500,000 punters. McKay was appointed AO in 2008 and this year was appointed chair of the Council of Australasian Museum Directors.
