As a Curator you will take a key role in the development and delivery of collection, exhibition and research projects, publications, outreach programs and visitor services. You will be responsible for:

  • Researching and developing content for permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions incorporating the use of new technology as required;
  • Contributing to the development, research and documentation of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander component of the National Historical Collection;
  • Providing expertise relating to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures;
  • Preparing correspondences, briefing material, reports and proposals as required;
  • Consulting stakeholders and representing the Museum in external and internal forums and discussions as required;
  • Other curatorial duties as required; and
  • Ensuring that you have sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake you work safely.

Curators are encouraged to publish in the Museum’s three thematic areas and in museology and to participate in broader curatorial forums and events.
