Museum Victoria is seeking a Curator, Politics & Society to provide curatorial expertise in social, political and institutional history, directed towards collection development, collection access, research, exhibitions and public programs.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position is accountable for research and documentation of the Politics & Society collection, including Royal Exhibition Building, Historical Archaeology, Institutional History, Military History and Politics & Protest collections, working closely with the Senior Curator, Public & Institutional Life.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated research expertise in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience in communicating research outputs. Specialist knowledge in one or more of the following fields is essential: social history, Australian history, political history, historical archaeology, international exhibitions, and material culture.
- Demonstrated experience in using collection management databases to manage collection information to make it accessible, especially through online access.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of archival records and in utilising material culture (including images and audio-visual materials) as historical sources.
- Demonstrated experience in writing historical narratives of a high professional standard.
- Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills including the ability to represent the museum to peers and the wider community.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team environment.
- The successful applicant must be willing to undergo, and meet the cost of, a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable.
