Duties
- Contribute to the collecting strategy, development, care, research and interpretation of the Museum’s Cultural Heritage collections.
- Lead curate and manage exhibitions, public programs digital and related projects (for example publications, documents, community outreach, oral histories and social media).
- Undertake curatorial research to expand knowledge of the Museum’s collections and registration activities associated with the cultural heritage collections.
- Facilitate public and research access to materials held in the TMAG collection and respond to external enquiries.
- Provide specialist advice and recommendations on acquisitions, deaccessions and loans. Develop and maintain policies and procedures, acquisition and other proposals for the Trustees and grant-giving bodies for the administration and development of collections.
- Work with and supervise employees and volunteers in collections, curatorial and public program projects. Ensure alignment with the purpose, culture and values of TMAG and the department, and uphold and foster shared values.
- Continue to build professional knowledge and relationships with the Tasmania’s diverse communities and professional networks and expand TMAG’s community profile.
- Build relationships with the community to develop local history collections and strong networks.
- Collaborate with employees across museum departments and other organisations. Represent TMAG and serve as an ambassador for the museum at internal and external events.
