The Memorial’s Research Centre holds the written records of war, both published and unpublished. The Research Centre manages and provides access to these collections. The Digitised Collections team curates, digitises and publishes Research Centre Online Collections and supports the Memorials public programs, exhibitions and projects.

This position directly supports the Memorial’s Digitisation Project and commitment to collection digitisation and collection movement. Under general direction, this position is responsible for image production and ingestion, preparation and re-housing of archival collections for the digitisation process, less complex cataloguing of archival records, image quality assurance, and supports the promotion of the digitisation program.

The work involves digital image capture of archival records to preservation standards using a range of equipment, including large format scanning, image quality assurance and ingestion, maintenance of scanning equipment, contributing to Project work targets and documentation using a range of systems including the Collection Management System (CMS) and Digital Assets Management System (DAMs).

Core Responsibilities

  • Digital image capture of archival records to preservation standards using a range of equipment and software including Photoshop
  • Perform image quality control, and ingestion into the Memorial’s Digital Assets Management System (DAMs)
  • Basic cataloguing, arrangement and description of Research Centre collection material using the Memorial’s Collection Management System [CMS]
  • Perform data clean-up and maintain a range of scanning equipment as required
  • Prepare and re-house archival collections for digitisation
  • Perform a variety of administrative and other tasks to support the work of the Digitised Collections section
  • Support the promotion of the digitisation program

Additional requirements:

  • May include rostered hours with the standard ordinary working hours.
