Data Storage Administrator – Queensland Museum

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the development and implementation of high quality digital curation and preservation services to enhance discovery, access and use of digital collections in research, curation and learning.

Develop and implement policies, strategies, standards and practices for curation of data and research collections, including establishing a cohesive, effective and achievable digital preservation program to ensure the long-term viability of research data and digital assets.

Develop and maintain guidelines addressing issues of data format, architecture, design and storage that need to be considered in determining long term curation, including future migration/re-formatting of digital content, and develop strategies and recommendations to address these issues.

Provide direction and guidance to QMN staff; and ensure a consistently high standard of service provision for both internal and external stakeholders.

Facilitate and monitor access to digital assets and research data in cloud storage.

Maintain and administer research data storage services; including monitoring system performance, storage usage and capacity, and data file integrity.

Provide ongoing training and support for users of the research data cloud storage at all QMN campuses.

Create, configure and provide tailored workflows for QMN staff and/or Programs to allow ingress and egress of research data to cloud storage.

Provide timely reports on research data cloud storage usage to management.

Work effectively with colleagues and peers while contributing to a productive and positive work environment.

Contribute to the safety culture of QMN by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all QMN Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies/procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.
