The Opportunity
The Deputy Director, Engagement will be accountable to the Director, SA Museum for the leadership, development and management of the Museum’s Projects and Programs, Access and Learning, Visitor Experience and Design, Digital and Communications functions. The incumbent is responsible for transforming the Museum experience by developing and implementing the strategies that connect the Museum and its breadth of activities with its audiences in line with the SA Museum 2021-2025 Strategic Plan. The role has responsibility for strategic and operational management of the public-facing side of the Museum.
Special Conditions:
- The incumbent will be required to participate in the department’s Performance Management Program.
- The incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.

Requirements:
- Possess a discipline relevant tertiary qualification.
- Substantially meets the Executive Competencies.

- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills and demonstrated success in achieving changes through collaboration and exercising influencing skills with various stakeholders
- Ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives to a wide range of stakeholders to meet high level organisational objectives
- Demonstrated experience in leading and undertaking complex transition or change management activities, which have critical importance to strategic organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong/constructive relationships and networks including proven capability to communicate and liaise effectively, consult and negotiate, with a range of stakeholders and customers across all tiers of Government and the Arts and Cultureindustry at a senior level.
- Demonstrated ability to identify strategic and operational issues, think laterally and apply analytical, qualitative and research skills to develop appropriate creative strategies for resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to continually seek and capitalise on opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships, and to develop a knowledge of each client’s business, organisation and objectives.
