Duties
The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a professional to join the Property, Projects and Design business unit as a Design Studio Manager.
You will be responsible for providing concepts, design, documentation, delivery and overall project management across a variety of Museum projects. This includes writing reports and submissions, presentations, contracts and other relevant documentation. Working closely with the Program Manager, Property, Projects and Design, to manage all of the relevant internal and external consultants, contractors, staff and project budgets, you will ensure the smooth delivery of the projects. The Design Studio Manager will support the Museum in delivering high-quality projects on schedule, on budget, with efficiency and to the highest standards of innovative creativity and design excellence.
The key responsibilities of the Design Studio Manager include:
- End-to-end delivery of projects at the Museum, from concept through to completion.
- Managing internal and external project professionals to deliver the projects within scope, budget and timeframes.
- Presenting designs to various groups, internally and externally.
- Providing design critique for other business units within the Museum as requested and assisting with the feedback to other designers where necessary.
- Managing staff who are responsible for delivering documentation on behalf of the business unit.
- Ensuring the designs comply with all relevant guidelines, standards and codes.
- Providing accurate and reliable budget estimates for planning and management purposes and prepare funding submissions as required.
- Preparing documents and amending where necessary for a variety of audiences.
- Overseeing the coordination of meetings and minutes and managing the circulation of documentation and completion of actions to internal staff and contractors.
- Managing and coordinating the repair and maintenance of items identified in the project defects lists, including liaison with contractors and reporting back to internal stakeholders.
- Ensuring that you have sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake your work safely and that employees are provided with sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to enable them to perform their duties safely.
- Other tasks as directed.
