The Australian Museum is at an exciting time in its evolution having undergone significant transformation with the opening of new permanent galleries including the restored Westpac Long Gallery, the award-winning Crystal Hall entrance on William Street, an exciting program of scientific and cultural expeditions and a national Citizen Science project FrogID. The AM has significant plans for the future expansion of the museum as it approaches its 200th year in 2027 with a two-phase Master Plan and associated capital campaign.
 
About the Australian Museum
The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Planning and Environment and was founded in 1827 as the first museum in Australia. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 19 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. About the role
The Development Manager secures financial support for the Australian Museum from private sources including individual donors, Trusts & Foundations and bequests. The role works collaboratively with the Trustees of the Australian Museum Foundation to secure and steward donors as well as administering the finances and reporting of the AM Foundation on behalf of the Trustees. The role manages the day-to-day operations of the Development team to deliver the AM’s donor and bequest programs to increase revenues, engagement and awareness, and to enhance the AM’s brand.
