Museums Victoria is seeking an experienced and talented Digital Assets and Copyright Manager to manage, maximise access to and enable legal, risk-managed use of Museums Victoria’s digital assets (images and audio-visual material), and to provide image research skills to assist in fulfilling the Museum’s image requirements for its programs.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
This position is responsible for managing digital assets, their intellectual property and metadata within Museums Victoria’s digital asset management system, to ensure maximum access to and the legal, risk-managed rights clearance and licensing of the internal and external use of digital assets.
Key duties include:
- Provide rights analysis and authoritative advice on complex copyright clearances to manage Museums Victoria’s risk in the internal and external use of digital assets.
- Apply expert knowledge and analysis to document descriptive and rights metadata for digital assets in the digital asset management system to provide maximum and compliant access to MV staff and external users.
- Undertake digital asset research, liaise and negotiate with external providers to provide estimates of procurement and licence costs for use in the Museum’s programs and source all materials and permissions to time and budget.
- Provide specialist advice and process guidance to diverse Museum project teams needing to legally license digital assets from both a variety of external sources and the Museum’s collections.
- Liaise with a diverse internal client base to manage the inclusion of digital assets into the digital asset management system.
- Provide support to users of digital assets through copyright training and processing orders, ensuring legal and risk management requirements are met.
- Develop and implement efficient digital asset and copyright management procedures, and regularly problem-solve and resolve issues related to MV IMAGES, workflow and scheduling
- Comply with Museums Victoria’s policies and procedures and with relevant legislation and regulations
