The Australian Museum (AM) operating within the NSW Department of Enterprise, Investment & Trade cluster, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

About the role
As a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, the Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for creating high performing and engaging written content for the Australian Museum’s (AM) website, email campaigns, and other channels as required. Working with teams across the AM, the role helps define customer journeys and manages the set up, development and send of email campaigns, automation and personalised customer communications.
About you
We are seeking an excellent writer and communicator with a knack for delivering impactful messaging online and onto the right channels at the right times.
You will have:
- a passion for producing compelling copy that drives change and inspires action
- an interest in leveraging technology to develop personalised experiences
- a blend of creativity and skill in data-driven analysis as you develop content, segment and target, and evaluate the results of specific campaigns
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in marketing, advertising or communications.
Knowledge & Experience
- Current knowledge and working experience to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description
- Demonstrated experience working in digital communications with a proven track record delivering high performing web copy, eDMs and CRM campaigns.
- Proficiency in email, automation, CRM and CMS software.
- Strong communication skills with an effective writing style and ability to deliver high-impact messaging to segment audiences.
- Knowledge of best practices for website and email content, delivery and testing.
- Strong analytical skills and proven ability to develop reports and make data driven decisions.
- Experience with platforms including Tessitura and WordFly preferable.
