About the Australian Museum

The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet and was founded in 1827 as the first museum in Australia. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite. The AM’s purpose is to make nature, Indigenous cultures & science accessible and relevant to everyone.

About the role

Primary purpose of the role

The Digital Content Producer helps build awareness of the AM and engagement with our social media platforms by creating content for the Museum’s main social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). The role is responsible for developing and implementing digital marketing campaigns as well as manage the AM’s social media accounts to bring our collections to life and build audiences for our exhibitions, programs and science initiatives, while driving revenue and awareness.

Essential Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience managing social media, digital marketing and digital communications.
  2. Excellent video and photographic skills and experience, including creation of content, shooting, editing and production with the ability to optimise this content for social media platforms.
  3. Excellent digital knowledge and skills including statistical analysis and reporting, SEO, SEM, PPC and other digital platforms, and experience using Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop and video editing software.
  4. Adequate knowledge and experience in order to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
