The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial’s purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. Its mission is to assist Australians to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society.

The Memorial plays the leading role in the nation’s commemoration of the Australian experience of war. The Memorial’s website is accessed by over 12,000 users daily and our social media and digital channels have close to 120,000 followers across several platforms. Our users seek to discover records and information on Australia’s military history through research of people and conflicts within our online collections along with commemorative events and activities.

We are seeking an experienced Digital Producer with social media and web editing experience to join our Digital Experience team. The new direction of this section is to build and deliver on the digital vision for the Australian War Memorial. The Digital Experience team is responsible for the Memorial’s reputation on existing and emerging digital channels and technologies. The team is high performance, fast paced and outcomes focused, and are seeking hard working and flexible team players to join the section.

The Digital Producer role will be responsible for delivering components within the Memorial’s new digital and social strategy under the direction of the Head of Digital and the Content Manager. Key tasks include liaising with internal stakeholders for ongoing social media and web content including planning and scheduling, rollout of social media campaigns, daily monitoring and moderation, collecting and reporting on analytics and administration tasks.

The role requires strong organisational and interpersonal skills and someone who is comfortable working in high-pressure and high-volume environments, who keep up to date with latest digital developments. The successful applicant will have excellent attention to detail, a pragmatic approach to social media with good judgement, excellent liaison skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines. The successful applicant will also be able to work under direction to represent and advocate the work of the Digital Experience team, and also work with minimal supervision when required.
