Duties
The person selected for the position will work under the broad direction of the Manager, Digital. The role will:
- Undertake technical production in the Museum’s web Content Management System (CMS), MySource Matrix.
- Update the design templates, basic CMS functionality and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) as appropriate, and coordinate more complex updates with our external contractors and internal IT staff.
- Scope and develop new website functionality and other digital projects in consultation with the Digital team, other Museum staff and external contractors.
- Undertake technical production, testing and troubleshooting in the Museum’s audio tour platform, including deployment to app stores.
- Maintain the Museum’s website analytics and generate reports and statistical analysis to inform future development and for reporting purposes.
- Develop and implement Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and site search strategies for ongoing improvements and optimisation.
- Be the main point of contact for troubleshooting technical issues by
working closely with our IT staff and external contractors. - Coordinate system software upgrades in consultation with our IT staff and external contractors.
- Supervise and provide guidance to other technical staff as required.
- Assist with intranet updates, training and documentation to support Museum Business Units as the Museum moves to a distributed authoring model.
- Develop technical documentation including functional and build specifications for digital projects as required.
- Maintain technical and user documentation for the web CMS and other digital products and systems.
- Undertake basic front-end development of functions in the web CMS and across other digital products.
- Ensure that he/she has sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake his/her work safely.
