This role reports to the Chief Executive and provides leadership in collection, curation and care of collections.

As Director Collections and Research you will:

  • Lead highly-skilled specialist teams that deliver across the disciplines of natural history, art, history, Māori and Pacific.
  • Ensure high standards of research, collection care and access to the collections.
  • Collaborate and partner with others, both within and beyond the museum sector.

You will bring to the role:

  • Relevant executive-level experience, preferably in a cultural heritage, tertiary, research or other relevant setting.
  • Confidence in working in a bicultural environment with a strong understanding of New Zealand’s diverse communities
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
