SLM provides custodial care for significant historic places, buildings, collections and landscapes with integrity, and enables people to enjoy and learn about them. SLM was established under the Historic Houses Act 1980 to manage, conserve and interpret the properties vested in it for the education and enjoyment of the public. SLM’s portfolio includes houses, museums, landscapes, a library and collections of paintings, furniture and objects.

About the role
The Director, Curatorial & Museums provides dynamic leadership, to direct the planning, organisation, staffing and operations of SLMs’ unique sites, heritage buildings and landscapes.

The Director, Curatorial & Museums provides strategic alignment to ensure integrated service delivery. The Director provides intellectual leadership and technical advice to a broad range of professional disciplines within their teams, to enable increased visitation, enriched reputation and brand profile, enhancement of public value, and achievement of SLM’s strategic and business objectives.

The oversight of the museum properties includes management of the museum and heritage sites, buildings and collections to ensure their sustainability, conservation, interpretation and use in accordance with Historic Houses Act 1980 (NSW) and the NSW Government priorities, NSW Making it Happen (2015).
