Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Director, Development & Commercial Operations to provide specialised professional leadership and is responsible for building and strengthening Museums Victoria’s financial sustainability by developing and implementing a suite of philanthropic fundraising programs and commercial activities.

The successful applicant will have:

Senior executive leadership experience, including a proven track record of achievement, in the development and growth of a major cultural or tourist attraction through philanthropic fundraising, corporate partnerships and memberships.

Significant experience and success developing and implementing strategies that build organisational capability in generating non-government funding streams, including a comprehensive understanding of the broad environmental challenges, both political and economic, faced by large multi-faceted cultural institutions.

Proven experience in developing, leading and managing commercial business operations in an environment where an excellent visitor experience is fundamental to success, while ensuring that commercial and business development goals are met and that risks are identified and effectively managed.

Ability to build strong cross-functional and external stakeholder relationships, with a proven track record of successfully seeking and securing new opportunities that support Museums Victoria’s strategic directions.
