Our vision for the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) is to be the world’s leading museum of science and design, acclaimed internationally and loved locally.
A great collection provides the foundation for a great museum. MAAS is built on such a foundation, however it must capitalise on the opportunity. To achieve audience and critical acclaim, the Museum, and its network of venues and collections, must be alive and dynamic.
Over the last 12 months the Museum has delivered a new vision, exhibitions program and operating model. As Australia’s only museum of applied arts and sciences with a world renowned collection, we are poised to build partnerships and support.
The renewed MAAS team is committed to a process of transformation. Our organisation is outward focussed – providing compelling reasons for audiences to engage online, through new media, visitation, knowledge and thought leadership.
The newly created role of Director, Development and External Affairs, is a key position, responsible for building significant financial support as well as audience and reputation.
The role is a member of the Executive Team and directs and manages the Museum’s communications and marketing development strategies to build reputation, audiences, significant partnership support and position the Museum as the leading museum of applied arts and sciences.
Key Criteria for the role includes:
- Demonstrated success in driving fundraising strategy and achieving results across corporate support, philanthropy, giving and grants.
- Significant experience in managing reputation and stakeholder support in a cultural or allied environment
- Significant and strategic experience in driving marketing and communications strategies and achieving and analysing results
- Excellent business development skills and financial acumen
- Track record in managing results focussed multidisciplinary teams
- Superior networking skills and experience in managing Trustees, Government and key stakeholders
