The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is one of Australia’s leading independent not for profit museum organisations. Our purpose is to inspire an understanding of the significance of the central Victorian gold rushes in Australia’s national story.

We collect, conserve and interpret the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region through our world-famous Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, the Gold Museum Ballarat, the Blood on the Southern Cross sound and light show and our pastoral property, Narmbool. We are a Gold Winner in the 2015 Australian Tourism Awards and have over 750,000 visitors per annum and growing with a major capital outlay in the next few years.

We are inviting applications for you to join our Senior Leadership team in this pivotal role as Director Engineering and Infrastructure Assets. Reporting to the CEO and leading a mid-sized team your role will be to provide our organisation with timely, accurate and high quality professional multi discipline engineering and building advice and management for Sovereign Hill, the Gold Museum and Narmbool as well as to effectively and productively manage the Engineering, Assets and Infrastructure Department within the resources (financial, labour and materials) available to the organisation.

You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Directors, Senior Managers and the Board to help set and manage the strategic direction of the Association as well as to effectively manage the Engineering, Assets and Infrastructure components of Sovereign Hill’s presentation and Services and Maintenance, delivering key projects for the Association.

To be successful you will need to have Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, attention to detail, communication, decision making and clear thinking skills as well as be computer literate and have extensive knowledge of Capital Works constructions, Project Management, Legislative controls and standards and procedures, especially in relation to Mines, OH&S and Visitor Safety.

You will also need to have a track record to be able to plan, monitor and supervise the work of the team to achieve high quality outcomes as well as investigate, assess and recommend solutions and initiatives for implementations.
