The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is one of Australia’s leading independent notfor-profit museum organisations. Our purpose is to inspire an understanding of the significance of the central Victorian gold rushes in Australia’s national story. We collect, conserve and interpret the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region through our world-famous Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, the Gold Museum Ballarat, the Blood on the Southern Cross sound and light show and our pastoral property, Narmbool. We are a Gold Winner in the 2015 Australian Tourism Awards and have over 750,000 ticketed visitors per annum and growing with a major capital outlay in the next few years. Over 25% of our visitors are international tourists.
We are inviting applications for you to join our Senior Leadership team in this pivotal role as Director Marketing. Reporting to the CEO and leading a small team your role will be to provide our organisation with leadership and management in the marketing function for the Association. The responsibility encompasses each campus – The Outdoor Museum Sovereign Hill, The Gold Museum Ballarat, Pastoral Property Narmbool and our main commercial businesses, Blood on the Southern Cross and Sovereign Hill Hotel. You will also maintain close direction of our marketing and sales initiatives for our overseas markets, particularly in the Asian market.
You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Directors, Senior Managers and the Board to help set and manage the strategic direction of the Association as well as to effectively manage the Marketing components of Sovereign Hill’s presentation, delivering key projects for the Association. To be successful you will need to have tertiary qualifications in Marketing and Management, attention to detail, communication, decision making and clear thinking skills, have a respected industry network and track record, the ability to seek out and gain sponsorships and have a strong understanding of all elements of marketing, especially the media (television, radio and press).
