Māu e whakaohooho, e whiri, e whakawhanake te kura tangata. Mauria mai ō pūkenga ki tēnei tūranga e mahi ngātahi ai tātau ko ngā iwi, ko ngā hapori Māori kia whakakōrerohia, kia whakaatuhia, kia toitū ai te mana o ngā taonga o te motu.
Ko tāu mahi hei Kaitātaki Manu Atarau o Te Papa he:
- ārahi, he taunaki, he poipoi i te ahurea whakahaere ki te tautoko i te mana o ngā taonga, me te ārahi i te rōpū Ngā Manu Atarau
- mahi tahi me te tautoko i te Kaihautū ki te whakawhanake i ngā whakaaaro, wairua auaha o Te Papa me ngā tauira waihanga ngātahi, whakaputa ngātahi me te whakawhitiwhiti me ngā hapori ki te tuitui anō i ngā here o ngā taonga ki ngā hapori i takea mai me te waihanga i ngā kōrero me te kauhau i ngā kōrero o Aotearoa
- mahi tahi me Ngā Whanaungatanga ā-Iwi me ngā rōpū Mātauranga Māori, e tautoko ana i ō rātau tūranga, me te tuku rawa anō hei hāpai ake i te māramatanga me te hiki i te kaha o te mana taonga puta noa i a Te Papa
- mahi tahi me te rāngai whare tiaki taonga me te tautoko i te kunenga haere tonu o ngā whare taonga, taiwhanga hoki e ai ki ā rātau mahi i roto i ō rātau hapori

- Pūmanawa whaitake ki te whakahaere me te whakarato i ngā kaupapa uaua, ā, i te taha hoki o ngā iwi, hapū me ētahi atu whakahaere Māori

Māu e whakaohooho, e whiri, e whakawhanake te kura tangata. Mauria mai ō pūkenga ki tēnei tūranga e mahi ngātahi ai tātou ko ngā iwi, ko ngā hapori Māori kia whakakōrerohia, kia whakaatuhia, kia toitū te mana o ngā taonga o te motu.
As Te Papa’s Director Ngā Manu Atarau you will:
- provide leadership, advocacy and influence organisation culture that supports mana taonga, and leadership to the Ngā Manu Atarau directorate
- work with and support the Kaihautū in developing Te Papa’s thinking, innovation and models of co-creation, co-production and community engagement around reconnecting taonga to their source communities and developing the narratives and telling the stories of Aotearoa New Zealand
- work closely with the Iwi Relationships and Mātauranga Māori teams, complementing their roles, while adding additional resource to enhance understanding and raise capability of mana taonga across Te Papa
- work closely with the museum sector and contribute to the ongoing evolution of museums and galleries with respect to their role in their communities
We are seeking candidates who have:
- Proven networks within te ao Māori and demonstrated experience engaging with Māori, including deep understanding of Iwi organisations
- A good understanding and knowledge of museum practice, both nationally and internationally
- A demonstrated ability to manage and deliver complex projects, including in partnership with Iwi, hapū and other Māori organisations
- A high competency and understanding of te reo Māori and a good understanding of tikanga Māori/customary concepts
- Proven management experience
- Demonstrable experience in advocating bicultural practice
- Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking and planning
- Experience in the cultural sector and familiarity with the Public Sector
