Sydney Living Museums (SLM) provides custodial care for significant historic places, buildings, collections and landscapes with integrity, and enables people to enjoy and learn about them. SLM was established under the Historic Houses Act 1980 to manage, conserve and interpret the properties vest in it for the education and enjoyment of the public.  SLM’s portfolio includes houses, museums, landscapes, a library and collections of paintings, furniture and objects.  SLM cares for 11 of the State’s most important historic houses, museums and their collections which are all in the NSW State Heritage Register.

SLM is seeking to fill the vacant role of Director, Operations & Governance. This Director provides executive leadership and direction to a diverse portfolio of corporate services and enabling functions. This is done through effective planning; through setting corporate policy direction and services standards to ensure the sustainable, effective and efficient availability of resources; and through professional and specialist advice and services to enable achievement of SLM’s strategic direction and business objectives.  The role drives SLM’s processes for ensuring appropriate corporate governance, strengthening corporate capability, facilitating corporate planning and performance monitoring.

High quality candidates will have demonstrated experience at a senior level in managing a diverse range of Operations functions within the public sector context, including finance, human resources, ICT corporate governance and compliance. They will have extensive and currently knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, policies and practices governing the operation of a statutory agency such as the SLM.
