Auckland Museum is an influential, much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibition, events and educational programmes.

Auckland Museum has a full time 18 month fixed term opportunity for a highly motivated Display Technician to join the Museum at an exciting time of redevelopment and renewal. This position sits within the Operations Team and will be working on Gallery Renewal exhibition projects. The role will contribute to the production of exhibition displays and associated furniture and fixtures, and the production of exhibition object displays, supports and mounts.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proficient in metal work, Joinery, model making, jewellery making
  • Relevant exhibition production and installation experience, ideally in a museum environment
  • Strong understanding of museum/archival collection management best practice & safe object handling principles
  • Ability to interpret detailed design & fabrication drawings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic skill level in Vectorworks, Auto CAD or similar software
  • Physically fit and fully capable of fulfilling the role, including climbing ladders, working at heights, work platforms etc.
  • Excellent time management
  • Current driver’s license
