Auckland Museum is an influential, much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its extensive collections and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.
Reporting to the Visitor Services Manager and in partnership with the other Duty Managers / Managers on Duty, this is a varied role that encompasses the responsibility of the management of the Front of House day to day operations, ensuring adequate staffing and optimum customer service levels are provided to all Visitors to the Museum, effective and timely staff management and mentoring as well as on-going training and development for all Visitor Hosts.
To be successful in this role, you will require the following:
- An understanding of the principles of equal opportunities, diversity management and the Treaty of Waitangi as they relate to the Museum environment
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
- First Aid Certificated and a proven working knowledge of Health and Safety
- Energy, attention to detail, initiative, leadership and enthusiasm
- Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and motivate a team while driving new Museum initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively generate ideas to develop business opportunities and maximise sales.
- Stakeholder Management both internal and external
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and/or weekends
- Superb presentation skills with the ability to walk into a room and inspire with your confidence
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Holds a passion for dynamic museums and for working in a cross functional team environment
- Motivation and detail focused with a passion for ensuring the highest level of visitor satisfaction
