Sydney Living Museums cares for 12 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Government House, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

About the role

The Editorial Officer provides quality support to the Project Manager – Written Content in review of nominated print and online material released by Sydney Living Museums. Under the direction of the Project Manager – Written Content, this role provides assistance with quality assurance and the commissioning, planning, editing, proofreading and production of print and online publications.

Targeted questions 

The Editorial Officer works concurrently on multiple projects, in print and online. Please outline your experience in editing and proofreading a variety of publications in different formats across different platforms for a range of audiences, particularly within the cultural sector. Describe the skills and abilities you would bring to these aspects of the role.

The Editorial Officer supports and works with staff from several teams across multiple sites, and liaises with external consultants such as writers, graphic designers, freelance editors and proofreaders, and indexers. Please provide an example of a successful project where you played an integral part in a multidisciplinary team. Outline your personal working style, and the communication and negotiation skills you employed to achieve deadlines and resolve conflict.
