The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial’s purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war or on operational service and those who have served our nation in times of conflict. Its mission is leading remembrance and understanding of Australia’s wartime experience.
Under general direction the Education Officer, School Bookings will assist with the general administration of onsite and outreach programs and projects, including school bookings, staff rostering, the School Wreath Laying Ceremony, and visitor orientation within the Education Orientation Space.
This position will also assist in the development and delivery of a range of education and public programs for visitors on site at the Memorial, as well as web based, curriculum linked, learning resources.
Core Responsibilities
Under general direction as a member of a team, perform a range of tasks including:
- Assisting with the administration of the school bookings system, and the School Wreath Laying Ceremony program, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required
- Delivery of education and public programs to a range of visitors including students, teachers, community groups, veterans, and the general public
- Assisting in the research and development of curriculum linked, learning resources
- Manual handling and movement of a variety of items, including Education collection and props, gallery interactive trolleys, and Memorial Boxes
