The Powerhouse Museum’s inaugural First Nations Directorate was established in May 2021 and signifies a self-determined approach toward institutional engagement and representation with Indigenous Peoples. The Directorate is First Nations led, promotes an inclusive and culturally safe environment, and supports First Nations aspirations for excellence within the sector.

The First Nations Engagement Manager role is responsible for building, maintaining, and leveraging strategic relationships that are collaborative and mutually beneficial to successfully deliver key organisational business operations, projects and strategies that are culturally safe, facilitative of cultural protocol, and aligned with First Nations community expectations and values.

To be eligible for this position applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify, and be accepted in the community as such. This is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Antidiscrimination Act 1977.
